 | Reading - Reading in our class includes a strong emphasis
on choosing our own books for silent reading as well as whole class
activities with selections from the Collections series. I feel strongly that all
students, even adults, need to spend at least 20 minutes reading at
home daily.

| Writing - We have a Creative Writing time, as well as many
writing projects that are based on selections the students have read
from the Collections series. We follow the 6
Traits Writing Program to continue building good writing
skills.

| Spelling- This year, I am running a program based on
spelling everyday words correctly in daily writing, remembering
spelling patterns, and recognizing when words look right. I hope
that this helps reinforce the students' previous years of spelling
practice.

| Language Power - Our weekly grammar activities
will cover the nuts
and bolts of grammar.

| Other - The students
spend time using the program "All the Right Type"
weekly to develop their typing skills, as well as have a handwriting
class to fine tune those squiggles! |
