2. Determine which of the following roles you will play to complete this newspaper project.

Read a summary of topics (ROLES AND RESOURCES)

3. Once you have selected or been given a topic read through your assignment.

4. Use Inspiration to organize the information you will need (who, when, where, why, what, how, other information).

    Or if you prefer use this Inspiration Template or the 5 W's Chart

5. Read through a variety of articles using the links provided. Download and complete the "CC's For Evaluating Internet Sites". Hand the completed form in to your teacher.

6. In your own words jot notes on your Inspiration diagram.

7. Hand in your completed Inspiration diagram for assessment.

8. Once you have been given the "go ahead" write your news article using MS Word. NOTE: articles should be written in Times New Roman size 12.

Article Requirements-Individual Responsibility

bulleteach article must follow standard reporting format answering the 5 W's of journalism
bulletarticle length should be minimum of 250 words and maximum of 500 words
bulletarticles must be proof-read and revised
bulletrelevant pictures, graphs, graphics or maps should be included after articles have been approved by the editor

9. Save the article in the group shared folder. (save in your folder as well)

10. Complete the article evaluation rubric for your article. Two other members of your group will need to complete this as well. Hand in the completed evaluation sheet and a copy of your article to your teacher.

11. Now you will publish a newspaper using the articles written by members of your group. Open the Publisher program and pick a template. (instructions for creating a newspaper with MS Publisher)

bulletNewspaper Requirements: Your newspaper should contain:

- front page, complete with newspaper name,
- index of articles
- articles from members of the group (include headline and byline for each article)
- each page has a lay-out that is easy to follow and visually appealing
- relevant pictures, maps, graphs or graphics of China included with each article
- anything else you can think of to make your newspaper as authentic and unique as possible (example: advertisements, classified ads, comics etc)
