Commentator

What is happening in your world? Is there something that frustrates you? Do you get mad at having homework to do? Does using a helmet when riding a bike drive you crazy? What about a seatbelt in a car? Do you like it or not?

A popular commentator in Edmonton is Bob Layton. Read over his daily commentaries (see Resources) to help you get a better understanding of your role.

Your job is to pick something that some people like and others don't like. Decide if you like it or not. Start your report with a statement telling WHAT the problem is and what your stand is - you like it, or you don't. Give at least three reasons why you feel the way you do. Give at least one reason why people may feel the opposite than you do. You may print the table below if you would like by clicking on subject.

If you are collaborating with other schools using video conferencing, be prepared to engage the students from other schools in a debate/discussion on the issue you are presenting. (after the newscast)

This report is OPINION, not FACT!!! This is a main difference between a news story and a commentary.
