  1. Light and Shadows WebQuest

  2. Launch yourself into Alien Attack!  Investigate the science of light to save the Earth from destruction...This interactive resource
was produced by the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.

  3. Operation Light & Shadow- Wonderville Operation Light & Shadow is a new digital, multi-level, puzzle game based on the principles of,
you guessed it, light and shadow.

  4. The Real Deal: Light - Learn all about light sources, light rays and reflections in this online interactive activity.

  5. LIVING COLOUR (what is Colour/Seeing Colour/Making Colours/Using Colours)

Reading Between the Lines Using this interactive resource from The Learning Federation, students can explore three of the more common types of vision problems: myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), and presbyopia. The resource allows students to compare effects of corrective lenses on reading at different distances. Students view a cross-section of the eye that illustrates focal variations causing each vision problem. Glossary terms, background information, and challenges to test and extend the student’s knowledge are also included.

Far Out Lenses (Using this interactive resource from The Learning Federation, students can simulate building a telescope using two convex lenses to look at the moon. Students first choose the focal length of the two lenses: the eyepiece lens and the objective lens. They can then move the objective lens to focus the telescope. The resource allows students to determine which lens pair produces the greatest and least magnification. Background information and glossary terms are also included.

Light and Shadows (Gizmo and Exploration Guide from LearnAlberta)

bullet

Additive Color v2
This ExploreLearning Gizmo allows the user manipulate the intensity of simulated spotlights in primary colours (red, green, and blue) and observe the resulting secondary colours which comprise the remainder of the visible spectrum. The RGB values of the overlapping areas are measurable. The resource includes an exploration guide and assessment questions.

Additive Colors
This ExploreLearning Gizmo allows the user to combine simulated spotlights in primary colours (red, green, and blue) and observe the resulting secondary colours which comprise the remainder of the visible spectrum. The resource includes supplementary information and activities.

bullet

Subtractive Color v2
This ExploreLearning Gizmo allows users to move spots of yellow, cyan, and magenta paint on a white surface. As the colours overlap, other colours can be seen due to colour subtraction. The intensity of the cyan, magenta, and yellow can be adjusted, and the RGB (red, green, blue) values at any location can be measured. An exploration guide and assessment questions are included.

Subtractive Colors
This ExploreLearning Gizmo allows users to move spots of yellow, cyan, and magenta paint on a white surface. As the colours overlap,
other colours can be seen due to colour subtraction. The resource includes supplementary information on additive colours, subtractive
colours, and the colours in fireworks
